Nokia Map Loader for Mac

I should probably post this here too, right? Nokia Beta Labs have announced/released today a beta of Nokia Map Loader for Mac OS X.

I like how it looks good, with that neat map background, seen on dialog boxes too:

Gives the app personality, again an great job by MK&C (don’t ask me how I know they developed it, you can find out too).

My feedback, as posted in the original post, is just that Map Loader disables iTunes and other transfers when on. So it speeds up the detection of maps currently on the card. I also disliked the flashing menu bar Nokia Media Transfer icon, as it kept giving me the impression that iTunes transfers were going on.

But in general, beautiful first release, and as Dotsisx noticed, 10mb smaller then the PC counterpart and 3 times better looking. The magic of Mac OS X :P

Nokia 5800 games, or why we need 3d accelerators.

Compare this Global Race footage to the same game running on a N95 or E90. Terrible lag in this one.

…and no making a pared down version of the game isn’t an option :P

Nokia 5800: the bff bar

I won’t bother you with covering the 5800’s launch, since every major and minor site has loads of pics and impressions of it.

What I am gonna talk about in this post is the Contact bar, a customised home screen which offers a people centric user interface. It lets you have four contacts/people on the home screen. When a person is selected, an activity log of communication and recent feed entries is shown, along with action shortcuts for calling and messaging. (copied from AAS)

You add your friends to it, therefore I’m nicknaming it the bff bar.

Spread the name folks!
